Maintenance of a vape includes accessible cleaning, proper coil replacement, liquid feeding, charging and storage. Turn off the device and let it cool before handling removable parts. In the event of damage, abnormal heat or suspected liquid in the electronics, stop both use and charging.
1. Clean the mouthpiece regularly
Wipe visible condensation and particles from the accessible mouthpiece with a clean, dry cloth or dry paper. Only remove parts that are intended to be removed. Keep the battery section and charging port dry; do not open the electronics or a sealed pod for cleaning.
Gurgling sounds or liquid at the mouthpiece alone do not indicate that the coil is worn out. Do not try to blow through the entire device or use up the liquid with longer puffs.
2. Replace the coil when necessary
Replace a damaged or worn coil. Stop using it if there is a burnt taste; burnt cotton cannot be restored through cleaning or refilling. Changed flavour and reduced aerosol can have several causes. Reduced aerosol may, for example, be due to the battery, liquid level, airflow or connection. These changes alone do not indicate that the coil needs to be replaced.
Innokin Go-Z has a replaceable coil. GoMax has a fixed coil, and the entire tank is replaced when the coil is used up. On a pod with a fixed coil, the pod is replaced. Use and e-liquid affect wear, but there is no common number of days between replacements. How to replace the coil explains the differences between the designs.
3. Check the e-liquid level
The coil’s wick needs to be thoroughly saturated to carry liquid to the heating element. Do not use a refillable tank with a dry wick. Fill through the designated filling opening, not the central airflow channel, and close the filling port afterwards. A prefilled, sealed pod or sealed disposable vape should not be opened for refilling.
For Go-Z, the manufacturer states that the new coil’s wick should be moistened before the tank is filled and allowed to stand for at least five minutes. GoMax has a fixed coil; after filling, the manufacturer states that at least five minutes are needed for saturation. The waiting times apply to these models.
The liquid’s viscosity needs to suit the design. Innokin specifies 50VG/50PG or 70VG/30PG for Go-Z and 70 percent VG or more for GoMax. More VG generally produces a more viscous liquid; the ohm rating alone does not show which blend a coil is suitable for.
4. Charge the battery correctly
Use the device’s designated charging equipment and an intact cable. Innokin Sensis has USB-C and a charging specification of 5 V and 1.7 A. The values apply to Sensis charging, not the coil’s power or all USB-C devices. A removable rechargeable battery cell should be charged in a charger intended for the type of cell; do not open an integrated battery section.
Charge while you are awake and able to supervise it, on a clean, level and stable surface without flammable materials nearby. Do not charge in a bed or on a sofa, and do not cover the device. Disconnect the charger when the battery is fully charged. Do not test-charge a damaged, abnormally hot or suspected liquid-damaged device.
5. Store the device correctly
Store the device in a dry place, protected from direct sunlight and intense heat. Avoid extreme temperatures and store a filled tank upright. Do not leave the device in a hot car or next to a heat source.
Temperature and time affect both battery ageing and the properties of the e-liquid.
Conclusion
Wipe accessible condensation, replace damaged or used-up parts, and keep liquid feeding and charging within the design’s requirements. Maintenance cannot restore burnt cotton, damaged electronics or an aged battery, and provides no definite extension of service life.
For those who are unfamiliar with maintenance, the difference between a replaceable and fixed coil is important even in a starter kit. With a replaceable coil, the coil is replaced separately; with a fixed coil, the entire pod or tank is replaced. The term starter kit does not mean that all kits have the same maintenance or replacement procedure.
