A rechargeable vape is an e-cigarette whose battery can be charged and used again. An e-cigarette is also called an electronic cigarette, e-cig or ecig. The device heats e-liquid and forms an aerosol that is inhaled through the mouthpiece. The aerosol is often called vapour, but it is not solely water vapour.
What is the difference between rechargeable and refillable?
Rechargeable describes the battery, while refillable describes the liquid container. A rechargeable device can have a refillable tank or pod, but can also use pre-filled pods that are replaced when the liquid runs out. Charging does not refill e-liquid.
A replaceable pod is a container that can be detached from the battery unit. If the coil is integrated into the pod, the entire pod is replaced when the coil is used up. In other designs, only the coil is replaced, while the tank or pod container continues to be used.
What parts does a rechargeable vape consist of?
The four main parts are the battery, liquid container, heating element and mouthpiece. In a pod system, several of the parts may be built together.
- The battery supplies power to the device and is charged via its charging connection. An integrated battery is built into the device and should not be opened for replacement by the user.
- The liquid container is a tank or pod that holds the e-liquid, also known as e-juice or vape juice. Refillable containers are filled with e-liquid; pre-filled pods are replaced when they have been used up.
- The heating element, also called a coil, heats the e-liquid. It can be a separate replaceable part or be permanently mounted in the pod.
- The mouthpiece, sometimes called a drip tip, directs the aerosol to the user. It can be a separate part or be included in the pod.
What costs are included?
The cost consists of the device’s purchase price, e-liquid or pre-filled pods, new pods or coils and any cable or power adapter. When the battery unit is worn out, the cost of replacing it is added. A comparison with disposable vapes needs to be based on the same usage and consumption; the charging function alone does not show which solution costs the least.
What affects the battery’s lifespan?
Battery capacity in mAh, usage time between charges and the battery’s total lifespan are different measurements. Power and usage affect the time until the next charge. The battery can be recharged repeatedly, but its capacity decreases with wear. mAh therefore indicates neither operating time in hours nor a set number of charges.
Settings also distinguish the models. XLIM GO 2 has adjustable airflow and automatic power adjustment. XLIM Pro 2 has adjustable airflow, power settings and a screen.
How is a rechargeable vape charged?
The charging cable is connected to the device’s charging port and a compatible USB power source. A USB wall adapter, computer port or USB car charger needs to provide the voltage and capacity specified by the manufacturer. A USB-C cable and a wall adapter are different accessories; both are not automatically included.
XLIM GO 2 and XLIM Pro 2 are charged via USB-C at 5 V/2 A according to OXVA. Ursa Nano 2 also has USB-C. Charging status is shown by the device’s battery indicator or screen.
Three examples of rechargeable models
OXVA XLIM GO 2, OXVA XLIM Pro 2 and Lost Vape Ursa Nano 2 have built-in rechargeable batteries and refillable pods. The OXVA specifications and the contents of the OXVA packages below apply to the manufacturer’s stated versions.

How is the device maintained and what applies when charging?
Remove liquid residue and condensation from the pod’s contact and the device’s contact pins with a clean, dry cloth or paper towel. OXVA’s troubleshooting advice describes cleaning these contact surfaces. The battery unit should not be rinsed or submerged in water.
A new pod needs to be filled before use so that the liquid has time to soak into the coil. OXVA recommends waiting 5–8 minutes after the first filling; the Ursa Nano 2 manual recommends at least 5 minutes. Do not use an empty pod or coil without e-liquid.
Charge under supervision and avoid charging while you sleep. Stop using the device if the battery swells, the cable is damaged or the device becomes abnormally hot. Do not open, crush or puncture the battery, and do not expose it to extreme temperatures. Cleaning and electronic protections do not replace these safety recommendations.
