Information on Quitting Smoking

What happens in your body when you quit smoking tobacco cigarettes

There is a lot to talk about the many benefits people appreciate when they switch from smoking regular tobacco cigarettes to using an e‑cig or vape, as it is also called. Tobacco use looks roughly the same across Europe. In Sweden about 1.2 million tobacco cigarettes are smoked and roughly 100 000 Swedes develop diseases each year that are linked to tobacco use. This is while 90 % of all smokers have made attempts, or considered quitting. We are, however, aware that quitting smoking is difficult. Therefore we have developed our range so that the threshold to a tobacco‑free life is as low as possible. Further down this text you will find some information about the positive benefits that come with quitting smoking. If you have questions about quitting smoking, need help with substitutes or have other concerns you are welcome to contact our support or visit one of our stores for personal assistance!

After 8 hours

Already 8 hours after you have quit smoking your body will start to improve. In fact, within these first hours the first noticeable effect of not smoking any longer is: the amount of oxygen in the blood begins to return to normal levels, even if you already use an e‑cig. This is possible because the vapor produced by our e‑cigs does not contain any carbon monoxide, which is present in tobacco cigarettes. This gives your body the opportunity to start detoxifying the carbon monoxide you have stored in your body so you can enjoy a larger amount of oxygen in your blood, which means you will feel better in many other ways as well.

After 24 hours

Within 24 hours after you have quit smoking and started using an e‑cig your body will have gotten rid of the remaining carbon monoxide in your system. But also your lungs will be detoxified because they work to remove toxic debris and mucus that has accumulated while you smoked. This is possible because you no longer inhale toxins and add to what already exists in your body, so it finally has a chance to start healing and cleaning itself. And this is possible because the vapor produced by our electronic cigarettes does not contain the toxins that cigarette smoke contains.

After 48 hours

After 48 hours have passed, your body will continue to thank you for switching to an e‑cigarette and getting rid of your tobacco habit. You will probably notice around this time that your taste has improved, so food and drink become even more enjoyable than they have been since you started smoking. In addition, your sense of smell will become stronger, so you will notice more scents you missed while smoking. This is all possible because your body will be able to start repairing the receptors in your mouth and nose that have been damaged due to the toxins in the cigarettes you smoked.

After 72 hours

After all the incredible improvements in your body during 48 hours it should not be a surprise that your body within three days becomes even stronger. Many who switch to vaping notice that their breathing already at this point has begun to show improvement. Breathing is easier than it was while you smoked because you no longer expose yourself to the tar that was clogged and irritated your bronchial tubes. Since these tubes become relaxed and clear, former smokers notice that their energy levels increase and breathing is less difficult.

3 to 9 months

If you stay away from tobacco cigarettes and continue to use e‑cigarettes for 3 to 9 months, you should notice that wheezing, coughing and shortness of breath have seriously decreased or are completely gone. These changes also stem from the fact that lung function has been able to improve, as the body has been able to clear away the dangerous debris that had accumulated during smoking.

5 years

Now let's look at the long‑term effects of quitting smoking. After five years the risk of heart attack has decreased by about half. The longer you go without smoking, the lower your risk becomes and if you have vaped you do not have to worry about vapor produced by e‑cigs causing damage to your heart cells.

10 years

Within 10 years the risk of lung cancer will be reduced by about half of what it was while you smoked. Again this is because the vapor e‑cigs produce does not contain all the chemicals that are present in a tobacco cigarette. Your risk of heart attack is also reduced to roughly the same as for someone who never smoked. If you continue to use nicotine‑containing e‑liquid, you can be sure that the effects of nicotine on the heart are similar to those caused by caffeine.

Keep going!

The longer you remove tobacco cigarettes, the more you notice that your health improves. Your body will thank you for quitting and the risk of a range of diseases will be dramatically reduced. In addition, the people around you will no longer be exposed to the harmful smoke you used to produce with your tobacco cigarettes. We avoid all cigarette butts in nature! which is better for the environment and looks nicer.
